Digital Suprematism

Four pieces from Tom R. Chambers' "Digital Suprematism" series were purchased by and installed at Perseus TDC (PTDC), Washington, D.C.

PTDC installed "DS-30" in their lobby at 80"x60" (vertical). It also installed "DS-5", "DS-16", and "DS-18" at 24"x30".

Based in Washington, D.C., PTDC wields the capabilities of a national firm with the dexterity of a local developer. With NOMA Center, they are responsible for creating a space that attracts and retains residential tenants. They want their artwork program to be welcoming, interesting, and be striking in its own right. Ownership wants the art to feel like art, not like art made specifically for interior design.

The Pixel as a Facsimile of Josef Albers' Square

These pixel configurations are from Tom R. Chambers' "Digital Suprematism - Geometric Abstraction" project, and they are in keeping ... a facsimile ... with Josef Albers' "Square". Albers' teaching methodology, prioritizing practical experience and vision in design, had a profound impact on the development of postwar Western visual art, while his book  Interaction of Color , published in 1963, is considered a seminal work on  color theory .   In addition to being a teacher, Albers was an active  abstract painter  and theorist, best known for his series  Homage to the Square , in which he explored chromatic interactions with nested squares, meticulously recording the colors used.  In this rigorous series, begun in 1949, Albers explored  chromatic interactions  with nested squares.
